Recife, Brasil. Três saias se esparramam no chão do pátio de São Pedro. Elas foram feitas de seda, com 10 metros de diâmetro cada, tecido nas cores do Maracatu. Na praça, as costureiras trabalham para unir as saias formando pouco a pouco um só vestido, vestido com três pontas. A performance de Letícia Cardoso começa aqui; nas mãos de costureiras do Maracatu, nos corpos de cantoras de Iemanjá. Entoando cantos da Rainha das águas, Orixá do mar, as vozes femininas ecoam no espaço dialogando com a cultura da cidade. Os corpos testam movimentos tímidos e circulares buscam seu lugar dentro das limitações impostas pelas saias. O vestido se move lentamente como se despertasse ao som do canto das águas. Nasce enraizado na cultura popular e segue seu caminho. Ele sai às ruas, viaja, desloca-se, entra em contato com outros mundos, cidades, pessoas. Transita, se enrola. Em cada situação se adapta, mudando inclusive seu nome. É um trabalho em constante transformação que se desdobra em muitos. E agora carrega cicatrizes, em repouso no deserto.

On the patio, the seamstresses work in order to unite the skirts into one dress only, a dress with three tips. Chanting songs of the Queen of the waters, Orisha of the sea, the female voices echo in space, striking a dialogue with the culture of the city. The bodies intent shy and circular movements, look for a place in the limits imposed by the skirts. The dress moves slowly as if awoken by the song of the waters. It is born in the roots of popular culture and goes on its way. It goes to the streets, travels, goes from place to place, comes to contact with other worlds, cities, people. It moves, it folds up. In every situation it encounters it adapts itself, even by changing its name. It is a work in a constant transformation that unfolds into many different works. And now it’s full of scars, in the repose of the desert.
